| Year | Annual Limit | Cumulative (from 2009) |
|---|---|---|
| 2009-2012 | $5,000 | $20,000 |
| 2013-2014 | $5,500 | $31,000 |
| 2015 | $10,000 | $41,000 |
| 2016-2018 | $5,500 | $57,500 |
| 2019-2022 | $6,000 | $81,500 |
| 2023 | $6,500 | $88,000 |
| 2024-2026 | $7,000 | $102,000 |
Maximum lifetime room (if 18+ since 2009): $102,000
Your TFSA room = Sum of annual limits (for eligible years) โ Total contributions + Total withdrawals from previous years
Important: Withdrawals are added back to your room, but only in the following calendar year. If you withdraw $10,000 in December 2025, that room comes back January 1, 2026.
CRA's TFSA room figure on My Account is typically 1-2 years behind because financial institutions report contributions with a delay. For accurate, real-time tracking, use our calculator above or the NorthFi Dashboard which tracks contributions year-by-year.
If you exceed your TFSA room, CRA charges a penalty of 1% per month on the excess amount. This is why accurate tracking matters โ a $5,000 over-contribution costs $50/month until corrected.
